The Joy of the Revelation of the Holy Trinity was made manifest in the Holy Resurrection community. This Joy permeated the Festal celebration as this year Holy Theophany fell on a Saturday morning. This holy feast marks the first time that Holy Trinity reveals itself to humanity. It also marks the time through which we are renewed in Christ by blessing with water. Thus, a key aspect of the feast is to bless the Holy Water used in the Church for the year.
Yet another wonderful practice is to perform the Great Blessing of Waters in living water--making manifest Christ's redemption of the world. The Holy Resurrection parish gathered after Divine Liturgy for the Synaxis of the Forerunner, St. John the Baptist, at Stoever's Creek/Dam in Lebanon, PA. The Great Blessing of Water here was completed with the lowering of the Holy Cross, made of Holy Ice (frozen Holy Water) into the stream.
Afterward, all gathered at the Church Hall for a Soup and Pogaca Luncheon. Special thanks go out to Tom and Donald Maransky for the cross form, and for their preparations for the luncheon.
